The five panel drug test is a fairly standard drug test available in the United States since the early 1980’s. This is also the required drug test for US Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test. Adding urine alcohol to the DOT drug test is prohibited. The drugs tested for in the 5-panel drug test are: marijuana (THC), cocaine, PCP, opiates (codeine, morphine, heroin) and amphetamines (methamphetamine). For DOT testing currently the 5 panel includes also synthetic opioids.
For non-regulated testing programs, urine alcohol testing can be added to a 5-panel drug test. Commonly called a 5 panel drug test alcohol, this is popular test for individuals ordering a personal drug test. With this test the urine is screened for Ethyl Alcohol in addition to the drugs. Often this is called Ethanol testing. This urine alcohol testing is common for probation testing and often for court ordered testing. We do not recommend urine alcohol testing for workplace testing for applicants or employees. All about Alcohol Drug Test Panels.
