Hair testing is currently used as evidence in criminal, civil and military courts and has passed the admissibility of expert testimony known as the Frye Rule, the Federal Rules of Evidence, and the Daubert Rule.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is the hair testing procedure?<br \/><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The person being tested (donor) goes to a collection site or to the designated collector within the work environment.<\/li>\n<li>A collector verifies the donor\u2019s identity.<\/li>\n<li>The collector cuts a sample of hair (in total about 100 strands) from the crown area of the head (often in the back of the head, underneath other hair).<\/li>\n<li>The sample is packaged and sent to a lab for testing.<\/li>\n<li>The lab cuts the hair sample to the first one and a half inches (1 \u00bd\u201d) that was closest to the donor\u2019s scalp, thoroughly washes it to remove any contaminants, and tests it for the presence of drugs.<\/li>\n<li>A negative result can be determined within one to two business days, while a positive result takes longer. With hair samples, the only time limitation for detecting drug usage is imposed by the length of the donor\u2019s hair.
