{"id":51553,"date":"2020-04-01T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/?p=51553"},"modified":"2023-03-16T13:06:25","modified_gmt":"2023-03-16T18:06:25","slug":"which-labs-perform-hair-drug-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/blogs\/which-labs-perform-hair-drug-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"Which Labs Perform Hair Drug Testing?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>National Drug Screening works with collection facilities across the United States that collect hair specimens for hair drug testing.&nbsp; Collecting hair specimens is much different from performing analysis of hair specimens, the actual testing is done at national laboratories.&nbsp; An <a href=\"\/order-hair-drug-tests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">advance hair drug test order<\/a> is required before visiting a <a href=\"\/testing-locations\/\">collection facility for a hair test<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Check out the short hair drug testing <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/xDB4KQIGV0g\" target=\"_blank\">video<\/a> <\/strong>above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The process at the hair drug test collection site is as follow:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Collect<\/strong> &#8211; Cut a small sample of hair from the crown area of the head; hair is typically cut from the head or from the arms or legs if there is no head hair (does it matter how long the hair is?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Package<\/strong> &#8211; Place the hair specimen in foil inside the envelope<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Document<\/strong> &#8211; Seal the envelope and complete the chain of custody process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ship<\/strong> &#8211; Package the specimen, envelope, and forms, and arrange transportation to the laboratory<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once hair specimens are collected the specimens are sent to one of our national laboratory partners:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Quest Diagnostics<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>LabCorp<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expertox <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hair drug testing detects drugs that are embedded in the hair.&nbsp; Drug and drug metabolite(s) are incorporated into the hair matrix from the bloodstream following drug use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quest Diagnostics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.questdiagnostics.com\/home\/companies\/employer\/drug-screening\/products-services\/hair-testing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a<\/a> hair tests are performed daily with up to a 90-day drug use history.&nbsp; Hair test panels available include the 5-panel hair drug test and the 5 panel plus expanded opiates hair drug test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 5-panel test can be ordered online and includes Cocaine, marijuana, opiates (Codeine, Morphine &amp; 6-MAM Heroin Metabolite), amphetamines (Methamphetamine &amp; Ecstasy), and phencyclidine (PCP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 5 panel plus expanded opiates hair drug test can be ordered online and includes all the above plus the expanded opiates of Oxymorphone, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Hydromorphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LabCorp<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labcorp.com\/drug-testing\/types-of-drug-tests\/hair-drug-testing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LabCorp<\/a> there are additional and expanded hair test panels available due to LabCorp working with partner laboratories <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usdtl.com\/testing\/hair-drug-test-lab\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">United States Drug Testing Laboratories (USDTL)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychemedics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Psychemedics<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of <a href=\"\/order-hair-drug-tests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LabCorp\u2019s hair testing panels can be ordered online<\/a>. Some common hair drug testing panels available from Labcorp include the traditional 5 panel and 5 panel plus expanded opiates, along with a 7 panel, 9 panel, 12 panel and 14 panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These <a href=\"\/order-hair-drug-tests\/\">expanded panels can be ordered online<\/a> and include drugs of abuse including propoxyphene, cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines (methamphetamine &amp; ecstasy), phencyclidine (PCP), opiates (Codeine, Morphine &amp; 6-MAM Heroin Metabolite, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Hydromorphone), Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Methadone, Tramadol, Sufentanil, Fentanyl and Meperidine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Expertox<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not as much of a recognized brand as Quest and LabCorp, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.expertox.com\/html\/services\/toxicology.php#drug\">Expertox<\/a> is a specialty lab and provides testing for many hair testing panels not available from Labcorp or Quest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A test commonly ordered from Expertox is the EtG alcohol test. The Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) Hair Alcohol Test measures any alcohol consumption for up to 90 days. \u00a0\u00a0It does not measure current impairment.
