Last year at the National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association<\/strong> (NDASA) annual conference; the Honorable William J. Bennett (former Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy) was featured as the keynote speaker. This year (March 9 – 12 in Jacksonville, Fl), Mike Lindell a former crack cocaine addict<\/a> and founder of the MyPillow business will be the keynote speaker. This year will also feature an appearance and talk from the current Miss America (Camille Schrier) who is promoting a platform of \u201cMind Your Meds: Drug Safety and Abuse Prevention from Pediatrics to Geriatrics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The NDASA annual conference<\/a> is a large gathering of drug testing professionals from around the United States and some professionals from abroad. It is an opportunity for drug testing industry members to learn and network to grow in their profession as drug testing industry experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last year at the conference held in San Antonio, Texas; Mr. Bennett<\/a> the Nation\u2019s first Drug Czar spoke to the audience about the expanding drug crisis in America<\/strong>. Bennett talked about the opioid crisis and the dangers of legalization of marijuana. Frustration was expressed regarding politician\u2019s reluctance and inability to deal with the drug crisis particularly during the Obama administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Executives in attendance from National Drug Screening (NDS)<\/strong> last year included company president Joe Reilly (pictured here with Bill Bennet) and Vice President Tom Fulmer. Both Reilly and Fulmer will attend this year\u2019s conference along with other NDS team members Katherine Finnell and Denise Pickrell. The conference will welcome officials from the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) to discuss the required DOT drug & alcohol testing program. The new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug & alcohol clearinghouse will also be a topic of discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Potential legalization of marijuana, medical marijuana, recreational marijuana and employers\u2019 rights to maintain a drug-free workplace will be prominent on the agenda. Information will be gathered for any updates to National Drug Screening\u2019s newly published Workplace Considerations For Marijuana Use<\/a><\/strong>.
