{"id":50511,"date":"2020-07-06T01:17:41","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T01:17:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/?post_type=us_state_laws&#038;p=50511"},"modified":"2023-04-18T19:09:51","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T00:09:51","slug":"vermont","status":"publish","type":"us_state_laws","link":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/us-state-laws\/vermont\/","title":{"rendered":"Vermont"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Workplace drug testing issues \u2013 State Laws \u2013 Vermont<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Caution: Vermont employers wishing to conduct workplace drug testing must follow state rules.&nbsp; Policies and procedures are critical to a legally defensible drug testing program in Vermont.&nbsp; Drug testing has restrictions, the Statute allows only applicant and probable cause testing.&nbsp; Post accident drug testing in Vermont is prohibilted unless there is probavle cause of substance abuse.<\/p>\n<p>January, 2018 &#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.currentcompliance.org\/2018\/01\/22\/vermont-passes-first-recreational-marijuana-law-crafted-legislature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vermont legislators pass recreational marijuana bill<\/a><\/strong><\/span>. <span style=\"color: #000000;\">The<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&nbsp;<\/span>law restricts marijuana possession to adults over 21 years, and allows possession of one ounce of recreational marijuana with no criminal or civil penalties.&nbsp;Currently, workplace drug testing is not affected by the Vermont recreational marijuana law.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important to Note: <\/strong><strong>Vermont\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;law requires a Medical Review Officer (MRO) to report all results to the donor and only positives to the employer \u2013 no employer obligation.<\/p>\n<p>These categories do not effect DOT regulated drug testing.
