Government employers should always call for potential additional restrictions on employee drug testing.&nbsp; Consider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/marijuana-considerations.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">marijuana laws<\/a> before terminating an employee for a positive test for marijuana.<\/p>\n<p>Alabama has a voluntary law that allows for a 5% workers compensation discount.&nbsp; The Alabama Department of Labor Workers&#8217; Compensation Division has adopted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labor.alabama.gov\/docs\/guides\/wc_drugfree.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">administrative rules<\/a> which address the elements of the drug-free workplace program and the certification process.&nbsp; This chart is based on those rules.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2020 Update<\/strong> &#8211; A law passed to make it a criminal offense to use or distribute synthetic urine or urine additives for the purpose of defrauding a drug test.&nbsp; This is an effort to reduce drug test cheating.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important to Note: <\/strong>Alabama&nbsp;requires an employer to notify employees and applicants in writing of positive results (negative not required unless specifically requested by the individual) within 5 days of receipt of the results from the laboratory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/us_state_laws\/50467"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/us_state_laws"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/us_state_laws"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/us_state_laws\/50467\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.nationaldrugscreening.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=50467"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
