JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jaguars are monitoring the health of rookie standout Brian Thomas Jr. heading into their Week 8 matchup vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 2-6 Jaguars have had a very disappointing start to the 2024 season, but for Jags fans and fantasy football players, Thomas' play has been a bright spot.
Thomas, the 23rd pick in the 2024 draft, is tied for sixth in the NFL with 573 receiving yards and fourth with 5 touchdowns, making him one of the most successful rookie receivers in Jaguars history. He is the seventh ranked receiver in fantasy football PPR (points per reception) leagues.
Thomas' status for the Jaguars visit to Philadelphia this Sunday, however, is in question. Thomas left Week 8's loss to the Packers early with a rib/chest injury.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Thomas will have an MRI on his ribs this week to determine whether he will be available vs. the Eagles.
Whether Thomas plays or not, the Jaguars are already guaranteed to be shorthanded at receiver Sunday, as Christian Kirk's fractured collarbone has him sidelined remainder of the season.
Receiver Gabe Davis also left Sunday's game early with an injury.
First Coast News will continue to monitor Thomas' status and will update this story when further information is released.
